The consortium for this study consists of the following partners:- Global View Sustainability Services (GVSS) – Project Lead - GVSS provides expert services to government and industry on environment and sustainability with a key focus on Sustainable Consumption and Production, resource/ waste management and ecodesign. With 20 years practising in environment, the company directors established GVSS in 2005 to provide practical expert services that can lead to effective sustainability solutions. It has now grown to two European offices, one in the UK and the Republic of Ireland with a highly qualified and experienced team of environmental professionals. Services include consultancy, policy support & analysis, research and training. Clients include government and agencies e.g. UK Defra, WRAP, European Commission (DG Environment, DG Enterprise), World Bank, WBCSD/WRI, EEA, Irish Environmental Protection Agency, Enterprise Ireland, Dept of Enterprise Trade & Employment (Ireland), Sustainable Energy Ireland, European Recycling Platform, Indian Ministry of the Environment and industry (large and SME) across a range of sectors (electronics/ICT, transport, chemicals, textiles, food & drink, packaging, building/construction and retail). GVSS also operates a not for profit think tank to support sustainability education with GVSS director Dr. Maxwell a visiting lecturer to Imperial College London, UK. BIO Intelligence Service (BIO) was established in 1989, and is a leading consulting and research firm in the fields of energy and environmental management. BIO assists its public-sector clients in developing and evaluating effective environmental policies. This has included innovative, forward-looking studies which play an important role in setting the future of environmental policy, as well as complex, analytical assessments of existing policies. Notable public sector-clients have included European institutions such as the European Parliament, the European Commission (DG ENV, ENER, ENTR, INFSO, TAXUD, REGIO, etc.), the Committee of Regions of the EU, as well as energy and environment ministries and agencies in different countries worldwide. In the private sector, BIO works in close collaboration with its clients to develop comprehensive environmental strategies which consider the full range of risks and opportunities presented by their interaction with the natural and regulatory environments. To date, clients have included industrial associations and federations, as well as individual companies and research bodies in a variety of sectors (electrical and electronic products, batteries, packaging, retail, waste, energy, transport, chemicals, building, agribusiness, etc.). Ecologic Institute is a private not-for-profit think tank for applied environmental research, policy analysis, and consultancy. Ecologic Institute is dedicated to bringing fresh ideas to environmental policies and to promoting sustainable development. Ecologic Institute's work programme focuses on obtaining practical results and on enhancing the importance of environmental protection and sustainable resource management. Ecologic Institute has inter alia carried out studies on options on sustainable waste management foregoing landfills and dealt with Best Available Techniques on Waste Treatment Installations.
